There are many special moments in life from your wedding, birthday celebrations, but none more special than when you first find out that you are expecting your first little patter of tiny feet. A new life that you will be bringing into this world.
There are many ways of recording and capturing this beautiful journey from maternity to motherhood. One of those is with a photo in a maternity photoshoot. Photos can be taken at any time. Many people document their pregnancy month-by-month, showing the progression. Often these are taken on a mobile phone, not necessarily showing them off in the magnificent glory that they deserve.
If you really want that one picture (or a sequence of pictures) that shows you and your glorious bump at its best, book in a pregnancy photoshoot. The general time to do it is just around 28 to 34 weeks, when your bump is more pronounced and you’re still comfortable. Just before your life is going to change forever.
Our experience has proven, not to leave it too late – in case you suddenly have to cancel the pregnancy photoshoot because something else has cropped up. By the time you try to make the next appointment it’s too late because baby has decided it’s going to make an appearance…and you’ve missed that magical bump moment.
Welcoming photo studio in Croydon, Surrey for your maternity photoshoot
When capturing these moments, we like to make them special. They are special because they are your moments that you will treasure forever and look back on for many years to come. Our warm, welcoming photo studio is in Shirley, near Croydon. We are happy for you to use our props or you can bring your own. We have a changing room within the studio space, and you are welcome to make as many outfit changes as you can fit in during the session. During your pregnancy photoshoot you will be served tea and coffee, including decaffeinated and infusions. Expectant mums travel from Epsom, Bromley, Beckenham, Orpington, Streatham, Wimbledon and other surrounding areas for our maternity photoshoots.
Led by Caroline, our licentiate qualified baby photographer, we specialise in maternity and newborn photography, making sure each session is as unique and special as you are. Sessions are about an hour but are never booked back to back so you can relax and not feel rushed.
Maternity shoots – what to expect
We like to think of our maternity shoots as fun! If you have an idea of the poses and scenarios you would like to be photographed then let us know. It’s your time to radiate during your journey towards motherhood.
Your time in the studio can be used as a solo photoshoot where we can take some artistic photos and portraits; or, if you feel comfortable, you are more than welcome to be in your underwear or remove all garments. We will take your lead and be inspired by your preference and taste.
Many expectant mums also want to use this time to have photos taken with their partner. For first time parents, this marks a significant point in their relationship where they are transitioning from being a couple into a family.
We also invite expectant mums to bring their other children to the photoshoot, to create a family photoshoot. We are ready to tell your story in pictures and capture these wonderful milestones in your life. Capturing this maternity moment is special and magical and we like to make it unique to you. Newborn Photoshoots
Having captured the magical bump moment, we also think it important to document the other side of your pregnancy journey. As well as a pregnancy photoshoot (the Bump Session), we also offer a baby package which allows you capture your tiny baby and their little feet soon after birth.
The perfect time for your newborn’s first photoshoot is between 7-14 days. At this age they don’t mind being dressed up or having a change of wardrobe during the photoshoot – they are still quite sleepy and relaxed. They are also more flexible, so you can put them in various (safe) poses and take some adorable baby photos, without disturbing them.
Babies older than two weeks can also join in the newborn photoshoot fun! As they tend to be awake for longer periods, it can be more challenging to get them into those curly, newborn baby, sleepy poses – but it can be done! And for those baby’s who are awake, alert and inquisitive, those images are just as beautiful too. These early days, when they are so tiny will pass quicker than you realise. Don’t miss out capturing them at their smallest.
As well as our props and wraps, you are welcome to bring any special items, such as a blanket or first teddy, which you may like to include in your baby’s photos, as well as their cute little outfits. Your little one will grow so quickly, and we can help you to remember this special time forever by taking your beautiful photographs. Memories that you can share with them for many years to come.
